LYRICS:

Words & Music by Dean Slocum

Verse 1:
I remember a time
When it was still a crime
To burn or bring dishonor to our flag
Our freedom had a cost
So many lives were lost
How could anyone just treat it like a rag

Verse 2:
Love thy neighbor as thyself
In sickness and in health
Take us back to the old American way
When little children prayed in school
And learned the Golden Rule
In God We Trust to save the U.S.A.

Chorus:
We’ll take the good ole U.S.A. any day
It’s still the best, no matter what they say
Some folks who think they’re smart
Want to tear it all apart
But we still love the good ole U.S.A.
We still love the good ole U.S.A.

Verse 3:
It’s trouble in disguise
America’s demise
This new world order planned for you and me
So it’s time we all get tough
And tell ’em that’s enough
While America’s still the land of the free

Repeat chorus twice

Deans comments about the "Good Old U.S.A."

A few years ago, while traveling across the U.S. and abroad,
I began to think about how blessed I am to be a citizen
of the United States of America.
I’m so thankful for the many freedoms we enjoy
that others around the world can only imagine.
That thankfulness led to the writing of this song, The Good Ole U.S.A.

The freedoms we normally take for granted in America are being threatened,
not just by terrorists,
but by “good ole” American citizens who think national sovereignty
is an old-fashioned and no longer useful concept.
They say we are now “global citizens.”
Alright, so if we hand over more authority to the United Nations,
tell me why the countries that have no interest in human rights for their own citizens
are going to give a flip about the rights of Americans.

When you hear it said that we now live in a “global economy,”
listen closely to who is doing the talking.
A single global government would make it easier for large corporations
to do business at the global level,
because they’d only have to deal with one government.
I would also prefer dealing with only one government:
The United States government!

Our expectations of continued freedom in America
are directly tied to the U.S. Constitution.
Thank God Iraq, Libya, China and other countries
didn’t help write our Constitution.
We need to make sure that neither they nor global business interests
get the opportunity to change it or reduce it’s prominence.

We can begin by electing people into office
who still understand the importance of U.S. sovereignty -
people who don’t see the need to ask the U.N.
for permission to protect our own borders.
You know who they are. If you aren’t a registered voter, please register today.
If you can’t make it to the voting booth on election day, get an absentee ballot.

Relatively few are called into military combat to defend the Good Ole U.S.A.
But every one of us are called into the political battlefield
to defend our freedoms by voting for American patriots.
